Tyre Fitting & Balancing: The fitting and balancing of your tyres is a crucial part of your vehicle’s maintenance. A poorly fitted set of tyres will result in a rough, uneven, and unsafe ride. Once you have brand new tyres fitted, it is important to make sure they are mounted properly, are the right type of tyres for your vehicle and are balanced accurately. When done correctly, this ensures a smooth and safe ride. Improper tyre balancing can also lead to the wear and tear of your tyres sooner than usual, reducing its grip on the road and increasing the chances of a slip or accident. Wheel Alignment: Off Roads, Rough roads, potholes, bumpy rides- all these can make things difficult for your vehicle tyres which will ultimately disturb the alignment of your wheels. Misaligned tyres can cause side- pulling, steering wheel vibration, uneven wearing of tyres etc The alignment of your tyres is a crucial part of your vehicle’s maintenance. A poorly aligned set of tyres will result in a rough, uneven and unsafe ride. The general rule for drivers is that you get your car’s wheel alignment checked at every 15,000 kms or at least once a year. Doing so will ensure a safe and comfortable drive at all times. You also need to get your tyres aligned if you’ve recently had an accident where the tyres were affected such as driving over potholes or hitting curbs or bumps hard. Having properly aligned wheels gives you the following benefits: • A more economical ride as fuel consumption is lower than when wheels are unaligned • It saves you from expensive repairs • A smooth and safe ride. A good grip and better tyre control • Increases the lifespan of your tyres.   Tyre repair: At Galaxy Tyres we do puncture repairs for all passenger and 4×4 vehicles. When is a tyre safe to repair? A correct and safe tyre repair will repair the tyre punctures so they are permanently air tight preventing damage to tyres and making them last the full legal life of the tyre. Unfortunately though, some damages are beyond repair and hence require you to check the following:
  • Legal tread depth (min 1.6mm across the central 3/4 of the tyre tread around the entire circumference).
  • Damage due to driving whilst flat-visible through for example a dark line on the side.
  • Secondary damage – caused by the damaged items. An internal inspection should be carried out to check for this.
  • Ageing/deterioration of the tyre rubber.
  • Puncture outside the repairable area, e.g. on the sidewall.
  • Damaged bead.
  • Exposed cords from steel belt(s).
  • Improper/poor quality previous repairs.
  • If the tyre has experienced any of the above, it should not be repaired.
